Hiking in Sequoia National Park

On April 15th we headed to Sequoia National Park.
It is FREE National Parks Week...so we couldn't pass that up.
We live only about 30 minutes from this park and we do not go often enough.
 We decided to do the Marble Falls trail and I must say...
This is not an easy trail - it is 8 miles round trip!
They did it with no complaints.
They actually loved it!
We were soooo proud of our kids.
We packed a lunch to eat at the top it was so beautiful!

 Everything was so green and lush.
We felt so thankful for all the moisture we received this year.

 

 There was SO much water...it was so loud at the top.
You can see in the below picture the rocks are actually made out of Marble.
They are so beautiful!

 

 

The next weekend on April 22nd we headed back there to do it again.
This time we hiked on the flumes trail.
It was pretty dangerous with the speed of the water so we were a little stressed out at times.
These rocks you see below are SO SO slippery...there is no stopping if you start slipping down!

It was a really sad day...someone had gotten too close to the edge and slipped in at hospital rock.

We have never been so close to so much action and it was so stressful to watch all of these emergency responders running around.

We got out of there quickly as we didn't want to get in the way.

We've never seen so many lights and sirens.

It's something I will never forget.
