7 Bridge Urban Hike

The day after Christmas is one of my MOST favorite days of all!
I spend the whole day with my mom, shopping all of the after Christmas sales, going to lunch and just hanging out together!
This year was no exception.
Scott always takes the kids to the park with his sister's kids and so everyone is happy!
Scott had to fly home and work on Tuesday, December 27th :(
He will be back on the night of December 30th.
Anyway,
the weather was unusually cold this year..(I'm used to wearing flip-flops the whole break and I think last year we even went to the beach)...There were really only two 70 degree days and we made the most of them!
On December 28th we headed out to do the 7 Bridge Urban Hike.
It's basically walking around different sections of Downtown San Diego going over 7 different bridges.
It was so cool!
We started down by the Zoo, walking over our first bridge to see a rose garden and all of these cool cacti plants.

You walk through Balboa park, where the Grinch tree was still up.
This is on my list of things to do next year...take the kids to see "How the Grinch Stole Christmas" at the Old Globe Theater in Balboa Park.

 The Old Globe...so pretty!
 Bridge Number 2.
There was a lot of historical information provided about these bridges..so not only were we getting a lot of exercise but the kids and I were able to learn some cool things about how all these bridges came about.

 Bridge Number 3
 Bridge Number 4
This one connected two neighborhoods...

My Mom's good friend Mary Tabor always joins us for our adventures.
She's the best..

 Gracie's jumping shot!
 and everyone else too...

 Redwood St.
 Bridge Number 5

We stopped in Hillcrest and took a lunch break.at a place called Huapangos!
Just what we needed.
It was DELICIOUS! and gave us the energy we needed to finish the walk.
After lunch, we continued our journey to bridge number 6

 and finally, bridge number 7.
It was a little hilarious because it is under some construction so it was certainly not the most beautiful part of the walk.
All in all, we walked over 7 miles in 4.5 hours (including lunch)...it was great!
I love that my kids and my mom like to do things like this!
I love being out and about getting exercise and seeing parts of this world we live in!

It's Christmas!

Well, Christmas started off EARLIER than I would have liked!
At 6am, we were not woken by the children that were currently sleeping on the floor next to us but instead we were woken by the sound of my cell phone ringing.
 SABRINA WAS CALLING!
It was 3 hours ahead in Florida, so it was 9am and she said she just couldn't wait any longer.
It took me a while to get my bearings and turn on some lights downstairs.
It was really nice to talk with her while everyone was asleep.
She is doing so great, is so happy and is working hard.
She stayed with us on face time the whole morning while the kids saw what was in their stockings and what Santa brought them.
Then we all had to get ready for church.
Church was wonderful...there was a beautiful spirit as the choir sang Christmas music and the speaker spoke of Christ.
I sometimes think Christmas should always be on a Sunday!
My parents tree with all the presents under it.
It was really pretty!
 Here they come...

 Trolls for Gracie...
Two remote controlled helicopters for CJ...
 and boots for Allie...
 CJ going through his stocking.
 Christmas Sunday Best...
Love this family of ours...missing our Sabrina

After church, we got back into our PJ's and gathered around the tree to open presents.

There is just something so special about being in the home you grew up in with your parents and opening presents together...it is magical!
Sabrina was able to face time with us while we opened presents...you will see in a lot of these pictures somebody holding the IPad and her face being on the screen :)
CJ was pretty excited about his new basketball shoes.
Love my dad's face in this picture!

We LOVE these signs that my sister made us!

and Scott loves his beef jerky!

Love these boots that Scott got me!

and my Dad got my mom Tieks...because they were supposed to be the most comfortable shoe.
They are not...and have since been returned!

 Merry Christmas!
So sad that Christmas is over...all that excitement and it just zooms by!
