East Coast Trip Day's 3 & 4

We had a grand plan...but weather sometimes changes that!
We had to alter some things around
Day 3
It rained so we had a nice, relaxing day just being with family (actually, it turned out way better this way) - funny how that happens!
We took in a movie together.
Incredibles 2
and we were able to watch it at an Old Fashioned Movie Theater.

After the movie, we saw an Empanada Place, Scott bought a couple and they were so good we wished we had more.
Melanie and I went shopping for Groceries while the Dad's and kids stayed home.
We BBQ'ed that night and watched a movie.
It was a great day!

Day 4 was Sunday
It was a great day!
Peaceful and together as a family, just the way I like it!

East Coast Trip Day 2 - Philadelphia

Day 2
Philadelphia!
We had a great day!!
My brother took the day off and we went with his family to experience downtown Philadelphia and all of the historical sites that it entailed.
We started off at the Liberty Bell.
We loved this city and all of the history.
Seeing the liberty bell and hearing the stories of what they did to protect this bell was quite amazing!

After the liberty bell we struck a deal with one of the hop on, hop off buses.
We really liked it as the guy (see picture below) had lots of cool, additional information.
Plus it was a good way to get from place to place.
We were not able to get tickets to Independence Hall.
We decided we would come back another day and go inside.
Still so cool to see it!
On the bus :)
The oldest residential street in the United States.
Elfreth's Alley
We visited Betsy Ross' House.
It was so cool, it is her original house.
They had people inside telling you what her life was like...she is a true patriot!

A look outside from her window
My brother and two of his boys on Betsy Ross' staircase...it is narrow!
In Betsy Ross' basement.
and where she is buried
We found a GREAT pizza place...

We walked Elfreth's Alley...SO cool!

Waiting for another story...
There were storyteller's all around the city.
For each store, the kids collected stars on their flags.
They really enjoyed this, as did I.
Reading Terminal Market
SOOOO Good.
We had donuts, pretzels, chocolate, etc.
We ended up buying a dozen donuts but then had to carry them around all day.
It was this hilarious joke because Melanie said, "Just get a dozen"...we laughed about it for the next 10 days!
Back on the bus...we drove past city hall.
An interesting fact our driver told us was that there was no air conditioning when this building was built, so it is in the genius book of world records for the building with the most window air conditioning units...as we looked closer we could see every window had one!

An old prison.
We didn't make it inside, that's on the list for our next visit!
Joan of Arc
As our driver said, "Joanie on her pony"
The Art Museum
Also, didn't go inside - next trip!

Rocky Balboa :)
The Temple! :)

So many cool cemeteries where some of the founding fathers are buried.
Pretty amazing..

We learned a lot about Benjamin Franklin
He was amazing..the first postmaster of the United States, an inventor and so much more.
We walked by his home and his post office.

Another picture of Independence Hall

Our family at the top of the rocky steps!
For dinner we had a Philly Cheese steak!
It was delicious!
