MAY 2020
After basically 2 months of LOCKDOWN! We escaped to San Diego at the end of May.
It was still frustrating because of Covid-19 but we at least could be outside (without masks) and enjoy the beautiful weather.
We did A LOT of hiking trails and enjoyed some good food, but mostly we were happy to see Grandma and Grandpa Olson, Grandma Lops and the Mark Olson Family.
Sabrina, Crew and Ace joined us on this trip - and we had a great time!
Our first hike (walk) was along the Coast Rail Trail Section in Encinitas.
We started with some VG's Donuts and then walked along this really nice trail that borders the Train tracks. You have views of the ocean the whole time...it was great!

Another day, another hike - this time, Luke, Tryg and Molly could join us. We walked the Solana Beach section of the Coast rail trail. We stopped for Acai Bowls and Smoothies along the way.
After our walk/hike we went to the beach.
The beach was technically "not open" :( for sitting - just about the stupidest idea that has ever happened in this Covid situation. So we could go, as long as we were constantly moving....
Crew loved it!
One good blessing from Covid - the beaches were empty.
Also - very sad!
A couple days later the beaches "opened for sitting" :)
We had a lot of down time just hanging out and playing and Grandma and Grandpa's house!
Another day, another hike. This time with donuts from RB Donuts - I have to say I used to LOVE RB Donuts but honestly - they are not good anymore. However, the kids like them so we hiked over the bridge at Lake Hodges and then sat down for some donuts at the benches along the trail.
One evening, we had dinner at Red Robin with Doreen and Grandma Lops.
It seems like nightly we enjoyed Woofums or Smore's.
Our final hike was the Coastal Rail trail in Oceanside.
Crew and Allie enjoying their pancakes!
Another hike over at Lake Hodges...this time with the end result being Chocolate Covered Strawberries and delicious homemade salsa!
PIZZA NIGHT at Sister Drakes. She's the best!
On our final day - we did some service for Grandma and Grandpa - never again though - I almost died on this hill pulling out weeds!
I'm so behind on this blog that I am typing this in April 2021 - and guess what?? Covid is still going on...it's been a LONG YEAR!
